Day 2 is a bit of a blur.
In no particular order, we tackled the strip, ate a delicious lunch, downed a 3-foot booze slushy, wandered Fremont Street at night this time, got denied secret access to a speakeasy (boo), fell for roulette (Jen), won $80 from the Wonder Woman slot machine (thanks Linda Carter), peeped some firemen working out at the fire station, High Roller ferris wheel for a view of the city, then my favorite stop of the night, Peppermill Restaurant and Fireside Lounge. As Vegas as it gets, the Fireside lounge is straight out of 1972—neon and mirrored and mobb-ish. In fact, it was featured in “Casino” and “Showgirls.” It was exactly what I was looking for to cap off our Vegas experience.
Day 2.5
We high-rollered out of bed and headed straight for the pool. So peaceful and relaxing. Then just as we were leaving, finally caught the Bellagio fountain show. Which was a delight.
Ok Vegas, you got us. Even though we hate crowds and smoking and high-priced food and drinks and gaudiness, there’s just something about you.
Until we meet again.
